RescueNet Dispatch and Billing emsCharts Integration

ZOLL emsCharts is now fully integrated with RescueNet Dispatch and Billing (RNDB), which provides many benefits for services using the full suite of products.

This integration requires components from the RescueNet ePCR system. Users will need to update crew members, vehicles, and facilities in both systems until we build functionality to synchronize this data between systems.

  • ePCR on demand. Services with RescueNet Billing Pro will be able to utilize the PCR on Demand functionality to quickly and easily see the PCR details that are most important to the Biller.

  • Modify patient demographic details. Billers will be alerted when data from the PCR doesn’t match the data in RNDB. They can easily view the different data and select the appropriate data to keep.

  • View PCR data from RescueNet Billing. When PCR data is available for a particular trip, the Field Data button on tab 2 of RN Billing will turn blue and allow the biller to view a PDF of the PCR as they're going through their billing process.

  • Receive PCR updates in Billing. If your ePCR workflow includes more than one 'Release to Billing' phase (i.e. - after a QA/QI process), any corrections made to the PCR in emsCharts can be available in RN Billing.

Please refer to the RescueNet Dispatch Administrator and User guides for detailed information on using the product to create and manage trips.

  1. In RescueNet Dispatch, select the appropriate vehicle

Note:  The company information, vehicles, units, and crew members must match exactly between RescueNet Dispatch and emsCharts for this functionality to work correctly.  Please see the administrator guide for more information on how to configure the integration.

  2. Find or create the patient information for the trip

  3. Enter trip details

  4. Click on Add TripNew Trip

  5. Click Save to see the saved trip in Open Work

  6. Select your vehicle in Vehicle Listing

  7. Drag Open Work trip over to Trips for Vehicle

Import the Dispatched Trip in emsCharts

Depending on your dispatch configuration, you will either create a new chart and import the dispatched trip or you will open an already-dispatched trip.  Please refer to CAD documentation for more details on importing dispatched trips into the PCR.

  1. In emsCharts, create a new chart

  2. Enter Base Site and Unit and click the ‘LOOKUP CAD DATA’ link

  3. Choose your Trip from the list

  4. Update any information that doesn’t match the dispatched record and then click on Import Data

  5. Complete the PCR for the trip.  Please refer to emsCharts documentation for more information on completing PCRs.

Completed PCRs will automatically export from emsCharts to RescueNet Billing every hour.

Work with Completed Trip in RescueNet Billing

Once the trip has been successfully imported into RescueNet Billing, the biller can create the claim, manage patient information, and view the PCR and attachments.

Modify Customer: View and Reconcile Differences Between PCR and RNDB

  1. Select your patient from the Call Taking module

  2. If the Modify Customer is blue, demographic details have been received from the PCR.

  3. Click the Modify customer button to show the differences between RNDB and the PCR.  Select which data to keep.

View PCR and Attachments

While the View PCR button will work, it regenerates the PCR based on your pre-defined template and will not include all of the data from the emsCharts PCR. We recommend viewing the PCR in attachments instead of using the View PCR button.

  1. Under tab 2 - Medical, the Field Data button will be blue to indicate that there are attachments. Click the Field Data button to show the PCR and attachments.

  2. Click the Attachments button to show a list of all attachments which can be opened or printed.

Audit Log for Trip

  1. Tab 8 - History shows all of the activity for a particular trip.
